Muhammad Ali 70th. Why it’s special

This Saturday evening will be a very special evening on the occasion of Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday. I’m honored to produce the video features and also direct show at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

It’s special to me because I’ve been up close and personal with Team Ali. I’ve had the privilege to work with the center and the champ on several occasions over the past few years in Europe and the United States.

But it’s more than that. Like many adults my age, I grew up watching Ali’s televised matches. This history forged an emotional connection that only comes from memorable events in a youngster’s life.

Ali is a man who charted his own course. As a fighter, he “shook up the world”. As a humanitarian and world-renowned icon, he helped reshape it. I remember.

His legacy is on full display at the Muhammad Ali Center. Though many come to experience life moments of “The Greatest”, the center was not created to idolize Muhammad. Through his clearly articulated values, the center’s mission is to help young people and adults find their voice and they’re doing this worldwide. I’ve seen it.

I encourage you to visit the center and experience Ali’s long career as a boxer, social activist and humanitarian. Take it all in and take your children. There will never be another one like him.

“For many years I have dreamed of creating a place to share, teach and inspire people to be their best and to pursue their dreams.” -Muhammad Ali

Long before the center opened in year 2005, Muhammad and Lonnie Ali understood how one man’s life experiences and lessons could inspire future generations. See his dream alive and well in Louisville, Kentucky.
